Welcome to Power U! United Labor Credit Union is dedicated to providing free financial education to the Labor community and beyond. In fact, ULCU was awarded several state and national awards in 2012 for its offering of innovative free adult financial education!
We are pleased to offer several free financial education workshops throughout the year. Annually we host the Union Retiree Financial Forum in March. To follow in 2013, please make plans to attend our Home-Buying Panel: Everyone you need to know during the home-buying proces in lat eJune; as well as a credit-repair workshop in September, and a special event late in the year to prepare Union members to become sucessful contractors and business owners.
Thank you to all those who participated in United Labor Credit Union's “Giving Credit Where Credit is Due,” free and interactive credit-building and repair workshop Thursday, October 24, 2013, at 6:30 p.m., in Gladden Hall of the Visions Building located at 6320 Manchester Ave., Kansas City, Mo., (the IAFF Local 42 Union hall.)
Participants learned about the “credit crunch,” how to obtain and use credit (even with a low credit score), read a credit report roadmap, how to report errors on a credit report, ways to build or demonstrate credit history, the cost and reward of credit, what other agencies are using credit to judge payment character, and more! This was the first workshop in a three-part series; follow-up workshops include balancing a household budget and using debt-elimination strategies for success.
Dinner and refreshments were served, and activities for children were available. All attendees received their own course workbook, a participation gift and several chances to win raffle prizes. This workshop was open to, and attended by, non-credit union members.
